(Picea meyeri)
|
Meyer Spruce is native to China and is similar in appearance to the Colorado Blue Spruce. This is a hardy tree with dense, bluish-green needles. The meyer spruce has a good form and grows on a wide variety of soils. It grows slowly the first few years after planting, but once established, the growth rate is similar to the Blue Spruce.
The Meyer spruce is increasing in popularity in the Eastern United States because it appears to be more disease resistant than the Blue Spruce. The Meyer spruce is not as tall the Blue Spruce.
The Meyer spruce is grown in Zone 4 and can be moved up to a Zone 2 or down to a Zone 6 without causing the tree additional stress or growing troubles.
